Support a physical therapy project in Indonesia.
The purpose of the rehabilitation program is to help and support children and adults with physical disabilities in Indonesia.
The organisation supports people with disabilities to be physically and economically self-sufficient. They focus on physical rehabilitation, clinical services, physical therapy, training, treatment, psychosocial programs and education. The organisation is located in Yogyakarta, but currently has multiple locations throughout Indonesia.
This therapy center is a small NGO that offers treatment and training for children with disabilities and their families. There is also education and training provided for the parents or caretakers of the children. For example, they learn how to deal with the child’s disability and which exercises they can use at home to optimize treatment and the outcome of physical therapy.
In Indonesia people are ashamed of having a child with a disability. This can be seen as a “bad karma”. In Indonesia they are quickly inclined to give them up, but also for financial reasons. We believe that someone with an intellectual / physical disability has his own qualities and has just as much right to be there as everyone else.
The orphanage takes care of mentally and physically handicapped children, where physiotherapy is also provided.
The hospital is located in Bantul, a city south of the city of Yogyakarta. Various physiotherapy programs are offered in the hospital. As a trainee or volunteer you have the option to choose a department or to combine multiple programs.
